It’s a new day, a new week, a new month, and a new year! We’ve set our goals, crafted our plans, and are ready to make 2025 the best year yet.

Filled with excitement, determination, and the unshakeable belief in our motivation, we can already taste the success. This is the year we will make it. I can feel it in my bones!

Now, it’s time to make it happen.

“But, wait a minute.” Says the little voice in our head. “How about we start tomorrow?”

Spoiler Alert: Tomorrow Never Comes

Tomorrow, the buzzkill and the one sure-fire thing, keeping us from achieving our goals. It’s so easy to say I’ll start tomorrow. When the new day comes, it’ll be the same story again: I’ll do it tomorrow. Before you know it, a week has passed by, and we’re no closer to our goals.

Sound familiar? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. It happens to most people at some point. The thing is, we often believe that we have to be in the right mindset or have a sudden motivation boost to start. So, we keep waiting for it to come.

This leads us to put off tasks, especially unpleasant ones, in the hopes of suddenly having a surge in motivation. Unfortunately, is this approach a bit of a gamble, because it might never come.

Another factor is our tendency to crave instant gratification. This means we want to be rewarded for everything all the time. This is what social media and streaming services are designed to do and keep us hooked.

In our minds, it’s more rewarding to watch just one more episode, instead of hitting the gym. Or to scroll for a couple of more minutes on Instagram, before getting on with putting in the work to grow our side hustle.

These are often unconscious traps that we get held captive in. It’s no wonder that tomorrow is the greatest excuse of all time. And that’s why we need a better strategy to achieve our goals.

Do It Today

To counter the temptation of putting off tasks, focus on action. Focus on doing something, anything, that will take you one step closer to your goal.

On some days this means taking it slow and steady as a sloth, on other days we leap ahead with the speed of a jaguar. The most important thing is to keep moving forward.

No success story developed overnight, even if social media gives that impression. Success takes time. Success is the sum of all the little steps you take on a daily basis. It’s the ups and downs, wrong turns, and the roadblocks along the way.

As long as you keep moving, you are making progress. And that progress will lead you to achieving your goals. So, don’t give in to the illusion of tomorrow, do it today. And pat yourself on the back for a job well done!

Sometimes our goals seem so far away, that it’s overwhelming and you don’t know where to begin. Other times, you feel as if you don’t have all the needed resources. Or perhaps you’re confused because it’s all so new.

This is completely normal. If you get stuck, use this simple question to refocus on action:

What can I do today with what I have, to get one step closer to my goal?

This question allows you to gain clarity and grounds you in the present moment. Both of which help to reduce overwhelm, overthinking, and confusion. It also supports taking action, instead of just thinking about it.

Focus On Action

Plans and goals are great, but they are just that. Plans set our milestones, help us navigate, and keep us on track. But to achieve our goals and make it to the finish line, we must take action.

Unfortunately, we tend to wait for the right moment and mood. Relying on fluctuating motivation and feelings to reach our goals is a rocky and uncertain road.

If we want to succeed and achieve our goals we must focus on action. We must take one step closer to our goal each day. It’s as simple as that. Action is the secret to success and making 2025 the best year yet.

So, dear friend, what’s one small step you can take today to be closer to your goal?
